Dr Matthews is a generalist and forensic psychiatrist. She currently provides psychiatric care to adults in both the public and private health sectors. Dr Matthews has a keen interest in the teaching of junior colleagues and students. She is a conjoint lecturer with the School of Psychiatry at UNSW. She is also the medical student coordinator for the Justice Health Network. She is especially interested in the care and needs of patients experiencing mood, psychotic, anxiety and substance/alcohol-related disorders, as well as patients with a comorbid intellectual disability.
