The first step is to obtain the appropriate referral (which differs depending on the appointment type). This should be addressed to ‘Dokotela’ so we can assign the appropriate clinician.

The requirements are as follows:
• Psychiatrist or Geriatrician: A referral from a GP or nurse practitioner
• Psychologists: A mental health care plan from your GP
• Work Cover: An approval letter from your insurance company (approving each appointment or a set number of appointments)

3. Feel Better

A video conference is a faster way to get the help you need. Many patients find a specialist working collaboratively with their GP a faster and easier way to feel at ease and get better.

• Psychology: Less than 1 week
• Psychiatry for attention deficit disorder: 3 weeks - 12 months (depending on which State you are in and any co-occurring conditions e.g. ASD or substances use)

PHN funded programs (for clients with health care cards or experiencing financial distress in Central Eastern Sydney, South West Sydney or Nepean Blue Mountains areas) have limited numbers and wait times may be longer for these services.
