Dr Nabil Malik

Dr Nabil Malik is a member of the Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He has completed advanced training in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry. Dr Malik currently manages the Consultation-Liaison psychiatry service as a staff specialist at Liverpool and Fairfield hospitals. Dr Malik also runs the Neuropsychiatry clinic located at Liverpool hospital. Dr Malik was awarded ‘Employee of the Year’ in 2019 in the South Western Sydney Area Mental Health Service.

Dr Malik holds an academic appointment as a conjoint associate Lecturer with UNSW. In 2019, Dr Malik was commended with both the UNSW Clinical Deans’ Teaching Award, and as the ‘Best Teacher South Western Sydney’ for Phase III Psychiatry.

Dr Malik works both in Australia and Pakistan, with extensive experience working in rural settings of both countries. He has a special interest in Transcultural and Addiction psychiatry (and associated co-morbidity) for people living in disadvantaged or disconnected areas.

Dr Malik has expertise in adult psychiatry for schizophrenia and psychosis; various affective (Bipolar disorders), anxiety, and personality disorders; patients with intellectual disability; and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Through the Neuropsychiatry clinic, Dr Malik also manages complex cases that may involve but not limited to multiple sclerosis (MS); autoimmune conditions; epilepsy; and various chronic medical illnesses affecting mental health.
